Head of Market Development Jayco Fung to assume the role as acting director from 2 Feb 2019
Adam Beaumont, Asia Pacific Regional Director of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), will step down from the role on 1 February.
As a trained Forest Scientist with an environmental law background, Beaumont joined FSC Australia and New Zealand as CEO in 2015 and became FSC Asia Pacific Regional Director in 2017. During his tenure, he developed the five-year FSC Asia Pacific strategy which aimed to improve the professional operation of FSC in the region. It also focuses on driving growth of FSC in traditional and new markets using a value-chain approach, government and key stakeholders engagement, and increasing FSC’s relevance and uptake through the development of national forest stewardship standards. Under Adam’s leadership, FSC hosted two Regional Business Forums in Vietnam and India to bring together international buyers and sellers of FSC material. Adam also initiated the development of a new Regional Standard to support more Smallholders to join the FSC system.
“It has been a pleasure to work for FSC over the past four years and see the FSC brand awareness grow, our certified area increase to 200 million hectares and the number of businesses buying and producing FSC products reaches almost 40,000,” said Beaumont. “I want to use this opportunity to thank FSC supporters, members, forest growers, companies, retailers and consumers who have helped FSC be a force for good for the world’s forests.”
Lieske van Santen, Global Network Director, FSC International said, “We are appreciative of Adam’s leadership to promote responsible forest management and bring FSCs teams across the region together to deliver on our joint mission. He’ll be missed in this role but we look forward to working with him in a different capacity.”
Head of Market Development of FSC Asia Pacific, Jayco Fung, will act as the Regional Director until the recruitment of a full-time director is completed. An active recruitment process has started and the position is posted on FSC’s website. Beaumont will continue to support FSC on key projects as a Senior Advisor.
Fung is based in Hong Kong and has been with FSC since 2014. She has been responsible for driving growth and market uptake of FSC certifications across the Asia Pacific region.
