Kimberly-Clark x FSC World Environment Day event successfully held in Taipei Zoo

The Kimberly-Clark annual FSC awareness-raising event took place at Taipei Zoo on 1 June 2019, which also aimed to celebrate the World Environment Day on 5 June. The theme for this year’s event is “safeguarding the forests for better outdoor air quality”.

Renowned Taiwanese actor Shiou Chieh Kai(above left) was appointed to be the ambassador this year. As the Captain of the “Guardians of Forests”, he led the educational treasure-hunt games and took the participating families and children to look for the endangered animals in the rainforests. Through different interactive game booths, the participants also learnt more about the importance of responsible forestry to the environment and wildlife.

In the opening ceremony, the guests, together with elementary school kids, planted Taiwan primitive trees and called for people to support FSC labelled product in order to protect rainforests and habitat of endangered species. Tetra Pak also supported the event and held educational theatre to demonstrate the importance of sourcing responsibly from forests.  As well, the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute, which owns an FSC-certified forest in Taiwan, was also there to promote locally-sourced FSC-certified sustainable timber. The region is currently mostly relying on imported timber.
